New Moon in Sagittarius

Tuesday, November 29, 6:19 AM central

sagittarius-constellation-outlineThe new moon is a time of beginnings and opportunities. This is a time of manifestation, making choices, making plans. Jan Spiller published a book, New Moon Astrology, which is one of a few books I keep close. I recommend getting a copy, if you don’t already own it. I also recommend you go to Jan’s website to calculate your Grandaddy Power Period. This period is unique to each person’s chart, based on when the Sun is transiting the 11th House of your birth chart. The 11th is the house of Karma. Follow her suggestion and use this as your first wish, “I want to easily cut through any fears or negativity that may arise in the month following my Power Period, and emerge with flying colors.” This truly will help ease your mind when the powerful changes start happening.

Uranus Retrograde

Uranus is in retrograde, and turns direct December 29th. This is a time of dramatic change. Look within. If you look within and don’t like what you see, write it down. Read what you’ve written and see if there’s something you can realistically change for the better. Then meditate on that change for a while. This holiday season promises to stretch us and push us to change in ways that will feel more like a challenge than an invitation. New Moons reboot us. Let it work its magic and show us what needs to change for the better. Let go of your preconceptions, and allow some of that fresh energy to work during these retrograde days. Today is also Giving Tuesday. Consider helping change along with a contribution to your favorite charity.

Waiting on Wishes

Some of the wishes I have made manifested immediately, and I am still waiting on others. Some wishes simply take longer. The ones that take the longest often require you to make a change or let something go. If you have been wishing for the same things for months, this might be the time to journal about them. Write your wish at the top of the page. Sit with it. Write whatever comes to your mind, even if it feels unrelated. Trust this process. It will help you identify the block. If the block is another person, let it go. If the block is within you, make your choice. You can change your wish or yourself.

What to do

You have until later today at 2:19 PM (central) to write down 2 – 10 wishes by hand. Write them simply and in plain language. Let your intuition guide you, not logic. Wish what you mean, not what you think you should, not what you aren’t sure about. Date and keep what you write (I use sticky notes in a paper calendar). Don’t waste your wishes on other people, they are yours and yours alone, and they should never be used to influence the will of anyone else.

Once you have written down your 2 – 10 wishes, let the Universe have them. If you notice new opportunities, take them. They are the gift you asked for. Change can be a little difficult, especially if you’re afraid or don’t believe you can have what you want. Try your best to remain calm and believe this can be yours. I write to get myself through fearful or uncomfortable times. If you’re not good with words, draw, dance, sing, get out in nature, whatever you need to do.

What’s special about a moon in Sagittarius?

The moon in Sagittarius makes us feel more optimistic and adventurous. Wishes you might want to think about involve religion, communication, intuition, spontaneity, travel, ethics, the law, luck, education, extravagance, and health issues related to the hips and thighs and liver. Light a candle and watch the flame for a while before you start writing. Let your mind wander, it will help you tune into your intuition.

Something yummy

November is a good month for pears and apples. Why not combine them? Saute sliced pears and apples, a few shakes of pumpkin pie spice, and a little brown sugar in a sauce pan over low heat. Stir often until the fruit breaks down and the butter and sugar start to form a syrup. Serve it warm over ice cream, shortbread, a soft cheese (like brie), or alone right out of a bowl. This would also make a delicious pie filling.

Neptune and Uranus Retrogrades

Today's Chart

Today’s Chart

Neptune (turns direct November 19th) and Uranus (turns direct December 29th) are in retrograde right now. Introspection is key, especially under Scorpio’s influence.

Wishes Involving Other People

This is a time of introspection. Don’t waste your precious wishes on other people. Be responsible for yourself. The Scorpio Moon is seductive by nature. It pulls at those parts of us that want to feel a sexual connection. If you are looking for a partner, concentrate on increasing your sexual magnetism. Be specific about what you want to attract. Are you looking for a lifetime commitment? Be specific. Are you looking for someone to share a specific part, but not all of your life? Be specific. Trust that you will meet the right person or people at the right time. Wishes do not control. Wishes free up energy for new beginnings. Trust. Chances are good it will be better than you ever dreamed.

What to do

You have until later tonight at 8:39 PM (central) to write down 2 – 10 wishes by hand.

What’s special about a moon in Scorpio?

The moon in Scorpio makes our secret desires come to the surface. Wishes you might want to think about involve secrets, change, obsessions, self-discipline, sex, debt, jealousy, guilt, and health issues related to elimination and sexual organs. Sit and meditate for a few minutes before you start writing. Let images, thoughts, songs come to the surface. Watch them without judging. The Scorpio Moon acts as a net, gathering these forgotten parts of you. Remember these wishes are for you alone. Be careful what you ask for, and enjoy it when it starts to manifest.

New Moon in Virgo

Tuesday, September 2, 2016, 4:04 AM central

VirgoThe new moon is a time of beginnings and opportunities. This is a time of manifestation, making choices, making plans. Mercury, Pluto, Neptune, and Uranus Retrogrades

Mercury (turns direct September 22nd)Pluto (turns direct September 26th)Neptune (turns direct November 19th), and Uranus (turns direct December 29th) are all four in retrograde right now. It’s important to check your calendar and the commitments you’ve made. Honestly assess if you can honor them. It’s important to go within, meditate, stretch your body, journal, do a little soul searching. Okay, maybe a lot of soul searching. Maybe you can assemble a search party… You’ll need it to navigate the change that is taking place in your life. Introspection is key right now. If you look within and don’t like what you see, write it down. Read what you’ve written and see if there’s something you can realistically change for the better. Then meditate on that change for a while. The New Moon reboots, and this month’s change might shake you at your core. Let go of your preconceptions, and let some of that fresh energy work during the retrograde days.

Solar Eclipse

Retrograde energy is not the most powerful thing going on. There will also be a solar eclipse during the new moon. Only those in southern Africa will be able to witness it, but we should all feel its sting. It’s going to be leading that soul-searching party, and it plans to call out those parts of us that need to change. This is going to feel more like berating than encouraging. We’ve been in the unsettling Pluto Retrograde for quite a while, and we all feel a little edgy and argumentative. So, this ring of fire is likely to leave us a little singed. Remember the New Moon reboots. Check your pride at the door and try to listen to the message. Meditate on it for a while before you sit down to write out those wishes.

What to do

You have until later today at 12:04 PM (central) to write down 2 – 10 wishes by hand. Write them simply and in plain language. Let your intuition guide you, not logic. Wish what you mean, not what you think you should, not what you aren’t sure about. Date and keep what you write (I use sticky notes in a paper calendar). I write to get myself through fearful or uncomfortable times. If you’re not good with words, draw, dance, sing, get out in nature, whatever you need to do.

What’s special about a moon in Virgo?

The moon in Virgo makes us want to put things in order. Wishes you might want to think about involve exercise, work, details, discernment, conscientiousness, bringing order out of chaos, blame, and health issues related to digestion and elimination. Clear your work space before you sit down with your wishes. This will keep you from getting distracted…

Something yummy

September is the beginning of apple season. It’s not hard to make your own apple sauce. In a small, heavy sauce pan, dice three of your favorite, crisp apples. Add a splash of water, a square inch of ginger root, and some cracked black pepper. Keep the apples moving over low heat until they become very soft (you should be able to smash them with the back of a spoon). Add honey to taste. Leaving the peels on the apples and smashing them with a spoon makes this a rustic treat. If you want something more refined, peel the apples before you put them on the heat, and use an immersion blender to make them smooth. Enjoy over waffles, on toast, or as a side dish or dessert.

Jan Spiller published a book, New Moon Astrology, which is one of a few books I keep close. I recommend getting a copy, if you don’t already own it.
