New Moon in Taurus

Taurus
The new moon is a time of beginnings and opportunities. This is a time of manifestation, making choices, making plans. Jan Spiller published a book, New Moon Astrology, which is one of a few books I keep close. I recommend getting a copy, if you don’t already own it. I also recommend you go to Jan’s website to calculate your Grandaddy Power Period. This period is unique to each person’s chart, based on when the Sun is transiting the 11th House of your birth chart. The 11th is the house of Karma. Follow her suggestion and use this as your first wish, “I want to easily cut through any fears or negativity that may arise in the month following my Power Period, and emerge with flying colors.” This truly will help ease your mind when the powerful changes start happening.

Retrograde Planets

Four planets are currently retrograde: Jupiter (which goes direct on June 9th), Saturn (direct on August 25th), Mercury (which is direct next week on the 3rd), and Pluto (direct September 28th). Most retrogrades offer us the challenge of an internal journey. There are also gifts in these backward and internal movements. Jupiter asks us if we’re really headed in the direction we want, and gives us time to decide what and how we want to change things. Saturn helps us evaluate our commitments and plans from the past, to see if they suit us or are still serving us. Mercury has its own gifts of giving us a second chance to finish those things we have left unfinished, everything from projects to relationships to the great American novel. Finally, Pluto offers us transformation by showing us our shadow selves and giving us opportunities to make amends. So, take this time to look deeply at what you want now and where you want to see yourself in the future. New Moons offer new beginnings. This New Moon offers you a chance to look closely and choose an authentic life.

What to do

You have until 3:18 PM (central) to write down 2 – 10 wishes by hand. Write them simply and in plain language. Let your intuition guide you, not logic. Wish what you mean, not what you think you should, not what you aren’t sure about. Date and keep what you write (I use sticky notes in a paper calendar). Don’t waste your wishes on other people, they are yours and yours alone, and they should never be used to influence the will of anyone else. Once you have written down your 2 – 10 wishes, let the Universe have them. If you notice new opportunities, take them. They are the gift you asked for. Change can be a little difficult, especially if you’re afraid or don’t believe you can have what you want. Try your best to remain calm and believe this can be yours. I write to get myself through fearful or uncomfortable times. If you’re not good with words, draw, dance, sing, get out in nature, whatever you need to do.

What’s special about a moon in Taurus?

Taurus is a very earthy sign. Wishes you might want to think about involve money and possessions, sensuality, contentment and gratitude, persistence, patience and dependability, personal boundaries, possessiveness, and health issues related to coughs, thyroid, the voice, and anything around the neck. You might want to chant, sing, or talk through some issues before you sit down to write. Seat yourself in a comfortable place, allow yourself to feel grounded and supported by the earth.

Something yummy

April is a good month for root vegetables, like beets and new potatoes. Prepare them simply, so you can really taste these earthy treasures. Simply roasting them with a little fat, salt, and pepper, will bring out their sweetness. Taurus is all about pleasure and gratitude. Set aside a little time to thank the earth for these gifts. Blessings on your journey!

New Moon in Capricorn

Mercury Retrograde

Uranus turns direct today and Mercury is retrograde (it turns direct on January 8th). Most people know to expect delays, problems with technology, travel, and communication, but aren’t familiar with the gifts of Mercury retrograde. New Moons reboot us and Mercury retrograde gives us a second chance. Let this combination work its magic by clearing out what’s cluttering your life and make room for what you want to invite. Let go of your preconceptions, and allow some of that fresh energy to work during these retrograde days.

Active Wishing

The Capricorn moon is the time to plot out a plan to help the Universe with our wishes. We activate the process of finding a new job when we update our resume and start networking. We start the process of losing a few pounds when we start drinking water and schedule regular walks with friends. We begin the novel we’ve been meaning to write, when we set aside an hour a day to put pen to paper. The Universe is an wonderful partner. Use this Capricorn energy to put your first foot forward. Watch what you wish for, be specific, and accept delays as part of the process.

What to do

You have until 8:54 AM (central) to write down 2 – 10 wishes by hand. Write them simply and in plain language. Let your intuition guide you, not logic. Wish what you mean, not what you think you should, not what you aren’t sure about. Date and keep what you write (I use sticky notes in a paper calendar). I write to get myself through fearful or uncomfortable times. If you’re not good with words, draw, dance, sing, get out in nature, whatever you need to do.

What’s special about a moon in Capricorn?

The moon in Capricorn makes us feel responsible. Wishes you might want to think about involve aging, self-discipline, defining and achieving goals, respect, authority figures, pessimism, and health issues related to bones, joints, the gall bladder, and skin. Do a little light yoga before you start writing. Consciously take an inventory of your physical body. This will ground you and focus your mind.

Something yummy

Winter can be cold and dry. One way to combat this is to add moisture to your skin. Sugar or salt scrubs are simple to make and add a little luxury to life. In a pint jar, stir together 1/2 cup granulated sugar (or salt) and 1/3 cup oil (olive, grape seed, or avocado). You can make it more luxurious by adding a small amount of an exotic nut oil, like Tamanu or Argan. Adding a few drops of essential oil is a good option as well. Test a drop of each oil on your skin and wait a few minutes. An allergic reactions are not very relaxing.

New Moon in Virgo

Tuesday, September 2, 2016, 4:04 AM central

VirgoThe new moon is a time of beginnings and opportunities.

Mercury, Pluto, Neptune, and Uranus Retrogrades

Mercury (turns direct September 22nd)Pluto (turns direct September 26th)Neptune (turns direct November 19th), and Uranus (turns direct December 29th) are all four in retrograde right now. It’s important to check your calendar and the commitments you’ve made. Honestly assess if you can honor them. It’s important to go within, meditate, stretch your body, journal, do a little soul searching. Okay, maybe a lot of soul searching. Maybe you can assemble a search party… You’ll need it to navigate the change that is taking place in your life. Introspection is key right now. If you look within and don’t like what you see, write it down. Read what you’ve written and see if there’s something you can realistically change for the better. Then meditate on that change for a while. The New Moon reboots, and this month’s change might shake you at your core. Let go of your preconceptions, and let some of that fresh energy work during the retrograde days.

Solar Eclipse

Retrograde energy is not the most powerful thing going on. There will also be a solar eclipse during the new moon. Only those in southern Africa will be able to witness it, but we should all feel its sting. It’s going to be leading that soul-searching party, and it plans to call out those parts of us that need to change. This is going to feel more like berating than encouraging. We’ve been in the unsettling Pluto Retrograde for quite a while, and we all feel a little edgy and argumentative. So, this ring of fire is likely to leave us a little singed. Remember the New Moon reboots. Check your pride at the door and try to listen to the message. Meditate on it for a while before you sit down to write out those wishes.

What to do

You have until later today at 12:04 PM (central) to write down 2 – 10 wishes by hand.

I write to get myself through fearful or uncomfortable times. If you’re not good with words, draw, dance, sing, get out in nature, whatever you need to do.

What’s special about a moon in Virgo?

The moon in Virgo makes us want to put things in order. Wishes you might want to think about involve exercise, work, details, discernment, conscientiousness, bringing order out of chaos, blame, and health issues related to digestion and elimination. Clear your work space before you sit down with your wishes. This will keep you from getting distracted…

Something yummy

September is the beginning of apple season. It’s not hard to make your own apple sauce. In a small, heavy sauce pan, dice three of your favorite, crisp apples. Add a splash of water, a square inch of ginger root, and some cracked black pepper. Keep the apples moving over low heat until they become very soft (you should be able to smash them with the back of a spoon). Add honey to taste. Leaving the peels on the apples and smashing them with a spoon makes this a rustic treat. If you want something more refined, peel the apples before you put them on the heat, and use an immersion blender to make them smooth. Enjoy over waffles, on toast, or as a side dish or dessert.

New Moon in Taurus

Taurus

I’m in the middle of mine right now, and big changes are in the wind for me.

The North Node

My north node is in Taurus (south node is Scorpio), so I’m going to touch a bit on the importance of your north node. First of all, a node is a point where two paths intersect. The north node governs those parts of ourselves we must develop, to grow spiritually. The south node falls opposite, and represents those things that come naturally to us. This topic is fully explored in Jan Spiller’s book Astrology for the Soul. Many of us naturally figure out these north node lessons as we mature, but there are some that are harder to learn. That’s when knowing a little about your chart can help focus your attention on things that seem to be getting in the way of living a happy or successful life. So, read up on your north node. If you find something cringe-worthy, that might be the thing that’s standing in your way.

Void of Course

The Moon is considered Void of Course when it has passed through its last major aspect to a planet before entering into a new sign. This transitional time lends instability. Wishes made while the Moon is Void of Course will either not come to pass, or will not turn out as you imagined. This month the Moon will be Void of Course from 9:10 PM until tomorrow at 11:35 PM (central). So, make your wishes before then.

Everything is Retrograde

Jupiter (turns direct on Monday), Mercury (turns direct on the 22nd), Mars (turns direct June 29th), Saturn (turns direct August 13th), and Pluto (turns direct of September 26th) are all retrograde right now. It might feel tempting to hide under the bed, especially with the Moon void of course, but we’re meant to live our lives. Just think before you speak. Give yourself a little more time to finish projects. Take some time for introspection, and eat healthy foods. These retrograde times are perfect for introspection. If you don’t like what you see in there, write down what you don’t like and see if there’s something you can realistically change for the better. Then meditate on that change for a while. The New Moon is all about the reboot. Let some of that energy work during the retrograde days.

What to do

You have until Monday at 9:14 PM (central) to write down 2 – 10 wishes by hand.
