The new moon is a time of beginnings and opportunities. This is a time of manifestation, making choices, making plans. Jan Spiller published a book, New Moon Astrology, which is one of a few books I keep close. I recommend getting a copy, if you don’t already own it. I also recommend you go to Jan’s website to calculate your Grandaddy Power Period. This period is unique to each person’s chart, based on when the Sun is transiting the 11th House of your birth chart. The 11th is the house of Karma. Follow her suggestion and use this as your first wish, “I want to easily cut through any fears or negativity that may arise in the month following my Power Period, and emerge with flying colors.” This truly will help ease your mind when the powerful changes start happening.
We are starting this new astrological year with Venus in retrograde. It turns direct April 15th. Most retrogrades offer us the challenge of an internal journey and Venus is no exception. This retrograde offers dramatic change, but only if you’re willing to put forth the effort. Look within. Write down what you see and feel and smell. If your thoughts go to a specific time in your life, turn on the music from that period and let that transport you back to that time. This is a time to heal those wounds related to your heart. Let yourself accept responsibility for your own choices and thank them for teaching you. If you harmed someone, this is a good time to ask forgiveness. If they harmed you, offer them forgiveness. Forgiveness doesn’t require you to continue in the relationship. It’s a tool to free yourself from the power that wound has over you. New Moons reboot us. Let it work its magic and show you what needs to released. Once released, you can set your intentions for the year ahead.
What to do
You have tomorrow morning at 5:59 PM (central) to write down 2 – 10 wishes by hand. Write them simply and in plain language. Let your intuition guide you, not logic. Wish what you mean, not what you think you should, not what you aren’t sure about. Date and keep what you write (I use sticky notes in a paper calendar). Don’t waste your wishes on other people, they are yours and yours alone, and they should never be used to influence the will of anyone else. Once you have written down your 2 – 10 wishes, let the Universe have them. If you notice new opportunities, take them. They are the gift you asked for. Change can be a little difficult, especially if you’re afraid or don’t believe you can have what you want. Try your best to remain calm and believe this can be yours. I write to get myself through fearful or uncomfortable times. If you’re not good with words, draw, dance, sing, get out in nature, whatever you need to do.
What’s special about a moon in Aries?
Wishes you might want to think about involve taking risks, self-direction, courage, impatience, and health issues related to headaches and dizziness, eyes, acne, and anything above the neck. Wash and massage your face and wash your hair before you sit down to write. Seat yourself in a comfortable place, and plug into the current retrograde energies that surround you. Using the Saturn energy, sit quietly with your feelings of fear and restriction. Let them speak to you and offer you guidance. Are they in place to protect you, allow you to rest, give you structure to fulfill responsibilities? Picture the Jupiter energy like the drawing back of a bow. Meditate on the energy that is gathering while you feel stuck or slow. Next, combine those images with the strength and courage Mars offers. Allow it to speak directly to your fears and your stagnation. Now write.
March is the perfect month for asparagus and leafy greens, like kale, rocket, and lettuce. I enjoy asparagus grilled or sauteed in olive oil and a little spring onion. This is the season to enjoy fresh, new life! This is the season to move boldly towards your dreams! Blessings on your journey!
