New Moon in Virgo

Sunday, September 13, 2015, 1:42 AM central

VirgoThe new moon is a time of beginnings and opportunities. This is a time of manifestation, making choices, making plans. Jan Spiller published a book, New Moon Astrology, which is one of a few books I keep close. I recommend getting a copy, if you don’t already own it. I also recommend you go to Jan’s website to calculate your Grandaddy Power Period. This period is unique to each person’s chart, based on when the Sun is transiting the 11th House of your birth chart. The 11th is the house of Karma. Follow her suggestion and use this as your first wish, “I want to easily cut through any fears or negativity that may arise in the month following my Power Period, and emerge with flying colors.” This truly will help ease your mind when the powerful changes start happening.

Yes, it works

I have struggled with neck and shoulder tension my entire life, even as a child. Last March, I wrote these wishes:
I wish for healthy shoulders that are free of hurt, anger, depression, and stress.
I wish for a healthy neck that is free of pain, anger, resentment, and self-loathing.
I wish to let go of the parts of my past that no longer teach me. I can remember them, but cease to experience them over and over.

A week or so later, during a chiropractic session, I had a vision of myself hanging. I immediately thought, “that makes sense!” It sounds much less comforting than it was. But, at that point I knew what I had asked to let go from my past, was deeper than I originally imagined.

A few months later, I traveled to Boston on business. I made plans to meet some people while I was there, including a long-lost cousin. This cousin makes her living doing energy work, and she is wildly talented. I had distracting pain on the left side of my neck, and she offered to work on me at the “family discount.” During our session, she discovered four of my lives had ended in hanging. While in dialog she found that none of them were my choice, and one had been in Salem. “I thought they burned witches, but it looks like you were hung. I don’t think you were hung for witchcraft. I think you pissed off somebody by speaking your mind.”

I find it interesting that this cousin comes from the side of my family that always claimed Cotton and Increase Mather as ancestors. Cotton was responsible for the Salem Witch Trials and was a judge in many cases. I find the combination of judge in ancestry and accused in past life chilling. Don’t let my experiences keep you from wishing. You aren’t likely to have such a dramatic experience in your own wishing. If you do, stay calm and let these experiences wash over you. They are simply clearing the way for what you asked.

What to do

You have until later today at 9:42 AM (central) to write down 2 – 10 wishes by hand. Write them simply and in plain language. Let your intuition guide you, not logic. Wish what you mean, not what you think you should, not what you aren’t sure about. Date and keep what you write (I use sticky notes in a paper calendar). Don’t waste your wishes on other people, they are yours and yours alone, and they should never be used to influence the will of anyone else.

Once you have written down your 2 – 10 wishes, let the Universe have them. If you notice new opportunities, take them. They are the gift you asked for. Change can be a little difficult, especially if you’re afraid or don’t believe you can have what you want. Try your best to remain calm and believe this can be yours. I write to get myself through fearful or uncomfortable times. If you’re not good with words, draw, dance, sing, get out in nature, whatever you need to do.

What’s special about a moon in Virgo?

The moon in Virgo makes us want to put things in order. Wishes you might want to think about involve exercise, work, details, discernment, conscientiousness, bringing order out of chaos, blame, and health issues related to digestion and elimination. Clear your work space before you sit down with your wishes. This will keep you from getting distracted…

Something yummy

September is the beginning of apple season. It’s not hard to make your own apple sauce. In a small, heavy sauce pan, dice three of your favorite, crisp apples. Add a splash of water, a square inch of ginger root, and some cracked black pepper. Keep the apples moving over low heat until they become very soft (you should be able to smash them with the back of a spoon). Add honey to taste. Leaving the peels on the apples and smashing them with a spoon makes this a rustic treat. If you want something more refined, peel the apples before you put them on the heat, and use an immersion blender to make them smooth. Enjoy over waffles, on toast, or as a side dish or dessert.
