Two of Rods

Interpretation

Two of RodsThe figure in this card has the world by the tail, yet he stands immobile. Make a choice.

It may sound unbelievable, but many talented people fail to succeed. They don’t fail because they don’t apply themselves. They fail because they have too many options. Choice paralyzes them. They choose nothing for fear of making the wrong choice. Unfortunately, nothing almost always ends up being the wrong choice.

This card is asking, possibly begging, you to make a choice. If you find that choice difficult, break it down into smaller pieces and decide on each point. Since this card relates to the element of fire, light a candle. Write each choice on a small piece of paper and safely burn the negatives in a fire-proof container. After you have burned away all the negatives, set all the positives in front of you. Now you can start implementing your plan. Choose something, anything. You have enough fire within you to make whatever you choose light up the world.

The Suit — Rods, Wands, Staves, or Clubs

The Rod is a tool with a spark of life in it. This suit is associated with the element of fire, due largely to an ancient belief that fire is held captive in wood. Certainly, sensitive souls can feel the energy of wood, but we don’t expect it to combust on its own. When we refer to this suit as Wands, we acknowledge its power. Rods are creative and fiery. They can also feel like a burden in excess.

Number — 2

Two is a number of duality, balance, and choices.
